Located in Tongala in Victoria’s Goulburn Valley, the HW Greenham & Sons Pty Ltd plant was established in 1993 to meet growing export demands for quality Australian lean beef.

Tongala, Victoria

HW Greenham & Sons, Tongala, began operations in 1993 after Peter Greenham famously sketched his ideal plant on the back of a napkin. It has since grown into a multi-million dollar meat export business and a success story for the region.

The Greenham Tongala operation buys cows from over 4,000 mainland and Tasmanian suppliers through its live weight scale operations or ‘Over The Hooks’ trading at its plants. The plant is Non-Halal and processes mainly cast-for-age dairy cows and bulls of all ages and sizes for lean manufacturing beef to established USA customers.

HW Greenham & Sons aims to provide the most convenient and fair option for farmers to sell their cull cows and bulls. The company offers electronic payment to bank accounts within 36 hours (if selling over the hooks) or cheque on the spot for all live weight scales purchases. There are currently eight Live Weight Buying Centres across the Goulburn Valley and five in the pristine dairy regions of Victoria’s south west. In addition, there are a further five scales in Gippsland.
