Daniel completed Year 12 during 2009 at Rochester Secondary College; in 2008 he achieved a Certificate II in Agriculture and attended the Youth Camp at the National Centre for Dairy Education Australia in 2008, ‘09 and ‘10. At the 2010 camp he was awarded the top honour of ‘Most Outstanding Student’.
A very strong interest in cattle showing saw him attend the National All Dairy Breeds Youth Camp, and leaders at that camp thought Daniel had the potential to be one of the dairy industry’s leading individuals in the years to come.
In his application Daniel expressed the belief that breeding dairy cows with strong consistent type, high production and overall herd health is important for the future of the industry. He feels that mastitis and fertility are major issues where he could make a contribution in the future; “To remain viable into the future, more emphasis will need to be placed on improved return on genetics, nutrition and overall herd health,” Daniel said.
