Greenham committed to King Island farmers

It’s been about three years since Greenham Tasmania came back to King Island, and they couldn’t be happier doing business here.

According to Graeme Pretty, Australian livestock manager for Greenham, King Island is a key part of their business and one they are committed to.

“Greenham have a long history with King Island farmers. We’ve been doing business here since the ‘40s, and plan to continue our long relationship,” he said.

Graeme has many years experience in the livestock industry, and recently relocated from the company’s mainland operations to focus on the Tasmanian market, with a very important part of that coming from King Island.

“Greenham has a great rapport with farmers on the Island. We are very proud of that, and it’s something we will continue to look after,” he said.

It seems the relationship has been good for both Greenham and farmers, with extra boats required in recent weeks to transport stock off the Island.

“In the last few months we’ve had to add extra boats to the usual requirements thanks to the great support from our farmers,” Graeme said.

“And whilst it’s not a cheap exercise to transport cattle from King Island, it is something we’re committed to. Greenham as a business benefits, and it provides local farmers with choice.

“We approach business here on King Island no differently to anywhere else. We believe strongly in looking after our farmers. That’s why we have prompt payment and no deductions.”

Another focus of Graeme’s over the next few months is to become a bigger part of the King Island community through the support of local organisations.

“Wherever Greenham does business, we like to give something back. Its part of being a good corporate citizen and something we are passionate about. It’s just how we like to do things.”
