Stanhope dairy farmers Allan and Judy Buzza are getting set for a memorable weekend in Melbourne for the AFL grand final having won the Greenham Tongala footy tipping competition prize package worth more than $4500.

The Buzzas will be able to enjoy their “ultimate grand final experience” with all the trappings including pre-match brunch, accommodation and meals.
The competition, which started from the first round of the season, was open to anyone who sold cattle to Tongala-based HW Greenham & sons between March 17 and the end of August. Tipping forms were available at all Greenham buying centres across the Goulburn Valley for the whole season.
A long-time customer of Greenham, selling around 50 cows a year, Allan said he entered the competition every time he made a sale to Greenham but only one entry got into the final draw.
“It was the sort of thing that was a bit of a talking point when you are making a sale,” Allan said. “It was an opportunity for a bit of chiacking. Some blokes take the footy pretty seriously.”
Allan Buzza has been farming in Stanhope “a long time”. “When I came home from school I went on to the farm, and that could be around 40 years ago,” he said.
Although the team that Allan supports, Collingwood, will not be taking to the field on Grand Final day, both he and Judy are looking forward to their weekend away, which will be hosted by Greenham.
There were more than 840 entries in the competition with 80 names going into the final draw. Suppliers who picked the most winning teams each week plus a random draw from the week’s entries went into the final draw.
