Adrian & Melanie Cole are getting set for a memorable weekend in Melbourne for the AFL grand final having won the Greenham Tongala footy tipping competition prize package worth more than $4500.
The Coles will be able to enjoy their “ultimate grand final experience” with all the trappings including pre-match brunch, accommodation at the Motel Eden on the Park and meals.
The competition, which started from the first round of the season, was open to anyone who sold cattle to Tongala-based HW Greenham & sons between March 18 and the end of August. Tipping forms were available at all Greenham buying centres across the Goulburn Valley for the whole season.
There were more than 1000 entries in the competition with 148 names going into the final draw.
Milking around 230 cows on a their property at Katunga, the Coles usually sell around 30 cows each year and have been Greenham customers for some years now.
As a recently retired Katunga football club player, Adrian said he really enjoyed the tipping competition. Although regular tipster, he only won one round of the Greenham competition but that was enough to get him into the draw.
“I didn’t believe I’d won the prize when Mel first told me. I thought she was having me on but it really hit me when the Greenham buyer told me as well.
“My one disappointment is that I would have preferred my favourite team, Melbourne, to be taking to the field on Saturday. But it’s going to be an excellent weekend away and we are really looking forward to a bit of a break from the farm.”
